Background
The 20-acre croft, located near Killen in Fortrose on the Black Isle, has been certified organic since 2002. Its fertile loam soils produce vegetables, fruit and herbs, along with forage for sheep, chickens and bees.
With generations of farming experience, a BSc in Organic Agriculture and ten years working on other farms, Black Isle Veg Boxes reflects a natural progression of knowledge and passion.
Specialising in leafy greens such as spinach, salad leaves and chard, the farm also grows a wide range of produce and collaborates with trusted local and national suppliers to offer variety year-round.
The dedicated team — Dan, Sally, Jamie, Molly, Julie G and Julie H — grow, harvest, prepare and deliver each order with care.
How our platform has helped Black Isle Veg Boxes
Growing Good has supported Dan and his team in expanding their product range to include items such as local dairy, as well as hogget and mutton from their own farm.
The platform’s doorstep item feature allows these chilled products to be safely stored in the delivery van and added to each customer’s order just before drop-off. The system clearly flags any items that need to be included at the doorstep, ensuring nothing is missed.
This functionality not only maintains product quality but also enables Black Isle Veg Boxes to confidently increase sales of goods that require chilled handling.
